    I. purpose of establishment
     
    Biotechnology refers to the use of biological (animal, plant and microbial) function to produce useful products of human science and technology, derived from biotechnology industry called "biological industry". The "biological industry" referred to herein will mainly cover the agriculture and food industry; The "management" part mainly focuses on "marketing management" and "communication management".
     
    The main purposes (vision) of the establishment of the institute are as follows:
     
    (a) relevant to the future biological industry research teaching and personnel training requirements: the biological industry too lay particular stress on the study of the nature of science and technology and human culture, ignore the social science research of teaching and talent cultivating, limit the development of industry, so this will be based on the teachers' professional, investment promotion and management of research teaching, at the same time with promotion and management of senior human ability.
    (ii) integration of biological industry research and teaching resources of college of agriculture and natural resources: the institute combines promotion and management majors to make up for the shortage of the college of agricultural resources of chung hsing university, which lays too much emphasis on natural sciences and undertakes the task of resource integration.
    (3) according to the needs of real estate industry, students should combine practice with theory: make full use of the abundant agricultural and biological industry resources in the central region, so that students can learn industry promotion and management concepts from practice, and students can combine industry experience with theory.
    (4) to meet the needs of the cultivation of the international competitiveness of the biological industry: the institute will support the investment of the international master of agriculture program in teaching staff and research, and train students to have an international perspective and the ability of international promotion and management, so as to meet the needs of the development and competitiveness of Taiwan's biological industry in the future.
    (5) sustainable development of the biological industry: sustainable development should be the biggest goal of the biological industry, the most fundamental reason is limited resources. How to achieve a balanced development of agricultural environmental resources and rural social culture in the pursuit of agricultural economic growth.     Educational objectives
     
    The development goal of the institute is to take into account the development needs of traditional agriculture and the emerging biological industry, and to actively promote the development of the biological industry through education and training, consulting services, information dissemination and integrated marketing management, so as to meet the global trend of globalization and modernization of the biological industry. Its specific objectives are as follows:
     
    1. Cultivate students' professional skills, theories and practical abilities of marketing management in agriculture and food industry;
